Mix well:
1 cup buttermilk
1 egg
1/2 t salt
1/2 t soda
Cornmeal to thicken ( a little less than 1 cup).
Prepare:
Heat oven to 400.
Put 1 or 2 T vegetable oil or bacon grease in an iron skillet. Put in oven & leave until HOT and mixture sizzles when
dropped in skillet (this is the secret to crisp cornbread.
Pour in batter and bake.
